The People’s Uprising Committees:
The People’s Uprising is a community organization focused on its four pillars: Equity, Access, Justice and Culture.
- Young Atlanta Leaders - The Young Atlanta Leaders (YAL) is composed of college students and young professionals in Atlanta aiming to chanel activism into meaningful community changing action.
- Equity Committee - The Equity Committee leads our strategy in analyzing community needs, enhancing community needs, enhancing community voices and addressing community concerns by creating equity focused programming.
- Justice Committee- The Justice Committee leads our strategy in criminal justice reform and civic engagement.
- Access Committee - The Access Committee leads our strategy for bridging significant resources & tools between government, private corporations and underserved communities.
- Culture Committee - The Culture Committee leads our strategy in using entertainment, arts and philanthropy to uplift underserved communities.
- General Volunteer - Come out to volunteer with TPU at various philanthropy, civic engagement and community outreach efforts.

Welcome to the Young Atlanta Leaders (YAL) program, where young people aged 18-30 come together from various industries to lead the next generation in making a social impact and promoting community collaboration in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Young Atlanta Leaders hold regular meetings on a monthly basis to discuss ongoing initiatives, share updates, and plan future activities. We also organize quarterly activations to ensure consistent communication and progress. The Young Atlanta Leaders program is a one year active commitment once enrolled.
We value candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to making a positive social impact and promoting community collaboration in Atlanta. Diversity and inclusivity are paramount to us, so we actively seek candidates from various backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and socioeconomic statuses to ensure a broad range of perspectives. Networking Events: We organize networking events, forums, and workshops that bring together various stakeholders, including community organizations, nonprofits, businesses, and government officials. These events provide valuable opportunities for collaboration and idea sharing.
Bringing Innovative Solutions To Social Challenges: YAL brings fresh and innovative approaches to community projects. By utilizing technology, data analysis, and design thinking methodologies, we identify creative solutions, streamline processes, and maximize the impact of our initiatives.
Civic Engagement Activations: We create civic engagement activities across Atlanta designed to excite young leaders and encourage their active involvement in their communities.
The selection process for the Young Atlanta Leaders program follows a structured timeline to ensure fairness and efficiency. Here’s an overview of the selection timeline:
- Application Submission:
The first step is to submit your application by August 25, 2023. The application form will be available on our website, where you can provide your personal information, answer specific questions, and share your experiences related to social impact and community collaboration.
- Application Review:
Once the application deadline has passed, the YAL Selection Committee will carefully review all submitted applications. The committee members will assess each application based on the criteria outlined in the selection process.
- Interview Phase:
If your application stands out during the initial review, you may be selected to move forward to the interview phase. By September 15, 2023, you will be notified if you have been shortlisted for an interview. The interview will provide an opportunity for you to showcase your passion, commitment, and leadership potential in person or via a virtual platform.
- Final Selection:
Following the interviews, the YAL Selection Committee will evaluate each candidate’s qualifications, interview performance, and alignment with the program’s values and goals. The committee will carefully deliberate and make the final decisions regarding the 2024 Young Atlanta Leaders cohort.
- Notification of Selection:
By October 20, 2023, you will be notified about the committee’s decision regarding your selection to the 2024 Young Atlanta Leaders cohort. If you are chosen, you will receive detailed information about the next steps, including orientation, program expectations, and upcoming activities.
